Matt Duggan was a postman, an historian, a poet, a writer, and a Veteran of War. He was born in Maguiresbridge, County Fermanagh. As a child his family moved to Glasgow; Matt returned to Ireland in 1923 to live with his uncle and aunt in the townland of Mullyneeny, near Derrylin. He left school aged 14 and worked tirelessly on his uncle’s farm. In 1938, he moved to London. He enlisted in the army at the outbreak of WW2; he was at Dunkirk in June 1940.
Matt was a man of many talents and an avid reader. His poetry and stories were featured in many newspapers and journals over the years. An inspirational man, Matt is fondly remembered by many.
