[Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh]
This model of a skull was originally painted white. It was one of four death’s heads displayed on an iron railing near the Gaol at the entrance into town. Presumably the skulls were on display to remind people what might happen if they misbehaved! The death’s heads were removed after much public pressure. One of the main signatories was Lady Dorothy Lowry Corry.
