Painted while William Scott was living in France, "Louise" shows the influence of French artists such as Cézanne and Picasso in the solidity of form and composition. Scott was first introduced to the work of the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists through his art teacher in Enniskillen, Kathleen Bridle.
