Throughout his painting career, William Scott's enduring interest was in still life. He painted arrangements of domestic utensils on a bare kitchen table, pots and pans, a toasting fork, a fish slice, cups and plates, and eggs, fruit and fish - the kind of objects he would have been familiar with in his Enniskillen childhood. ‘Still Life with Garlic’ is a key painting in Fermanagh County Museum’s collection, highlighting the beginning of a transition in the artist’s style.
