Dinky toys first came on the market in 1934 and were an instant success. The idea of manufacturing these miniature vehicles came about largely by accident in 1932, when the firm produced a range of model vehicles purely as accessories for their popular train sets. By the end of the thirties, there was a wide range of Dinky models on the market, selling very successfully either individually or in sets.
