Caption
This copper plate was used in Belleek Pottery for the transfer printing of designs. Many of the early copper plates were engraved by Mr Royals or Ryles, from Stoke-on-Trent, who came to Belleek in 1864. This particular example may have been engraved by him. The copper plate was purchased from Robert Arnold, a grandson of Harry Arnold, General Manager of Belleek Pottery from 1934 to 1939. Robert's father, Cyril, was decorating Manager from 1935 and took over as General Manager between 1966 and 1970.
