"Costume, Ball Gown"
Handmade and machine made
This dress has a stiffened, strapless bodice typical of the fashions of the fifties. It is made from a richly-patterned silk brocade of feathers and roses. This dress was worn to a presentation ball at the Royal Society of Arts, London, by Maureen Arnold. She attended the event with her husband Arnold, who was decorating manager at Belleek Pottery at the time. You can find out more about Belleek Pottery in the museum’s permanent display.
