Caption
The Independent Organisation of Good Templars was founded in New York in 1851, with the aim of prohibiting the consumption, trading and manufacture of alcoholic drinks. The Irish lodge was founded in 1871. The emblem on the left has the motto ‘FIDES SPES CHARITAS’ (faith, hope, charity).
