Caption

Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill (1874 - 1965) was a British politician and statesman. In January 1919, Churchill was moved to the War Office as Both Secretary of State for War and Secretary of State for Air. During the Irish War of Independence, he supported the Black and Tans and in February 1921 he became the Secretary of State for the Colonies. From 1940 - 1945, during the Second World War, he was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and again from 1951 to 1955.
