Mixed Media Collage on Canvas
The painting or 'inscape' was inspired by responses to both external and internal sources. It is one of a series of works created by the artist following a journey to the Outer Hebrides in 2014. Rachael Johnson has said of her inspiration: "There is something of the bog and shore that haunts. The sweep of fractured scarp and tilted seam of fossilised stone, brackish fern and peat moss, soft rush sward and the slow seep of dank bog pools resonate with archetypal curve and hue, making a familiar of these primal wetlands."
